What’s the word?
However, as we head ever closer to the end of the winter window, some fans may well be concerned about a lack of new signings – especially with Chris Wood heading out on loan for the rest of the season.
In more positive news, though, talks are ongoing over a possible transfer for Everton winger Gordon. Of course, last summer Chelsea were linked with a £60m move for the Englishman too and there is a belief that they could go in for him again this winter.
While speaking about it all on Chasing Green Arrows, Jones confirmed both teams were interested in the player but said he would be shocked if either team pay the full touted transfer fee.
He explained: “If it was £60m, I will be astonished if someone pays that for him, because I think there is better value to be had. But at £40m, okay, maybe.
“So Newcastle are in talks, here. Chelsea are getting involved in negotiations of their own as well. Do Chelsea need him? No. Does that mean they won’t get involved? No.”

Thankfully for Newcastle United, Sky Sports suggest a fee of around £40m could be enough to tempt Everton into a sale this winter. The only problem for Newcastle is that if Chelsea do keep pushing to sign the winger, then maybe his transfer value will shoot up to that £60m mark.
It hasn’t been the best of seasons for the 21-year-old so far, with just three league goals in 16 appearances. However, his poor form could be put down to the Toffees’ struggles which led to the recent sacking of Frank Lampard.
Perhaps in a new environment, away from the dark clouds that seem to perpetually hang over Goodison Park these days, Gordon could flourish.
With Newcastle and Chelsea both keen on the winger, though, it remains to be seen where he may end up and just how much he will cost.
