Auburn wins commitment of 4-star linebacker Elijah Melendez

Elijah Melendez, a four-star linebacker out of Kissimmee, Florida, has committed to the Auburn Tigers after having recently backed off his pledge to Miami.

Melendez announced his commitment in a social media post ahead of Auburn’s game vs. New Mexico on Saturday.

Melendez, who is on campus for Auburn’s homecoming game vs. New Mexico, decommitted from the Hurricanes hours before the Tigers kicked off their season vs. Alabama A&M on Aug. 31.

Rated a three-star linebacker by 247Sports, Melendez measures 6-foot-2, 225 pounds and is ranked as the No. 39 linebacker in the country.

At the time of his commitment, Melendez held more than 35 offers, including programs like Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State and others.

Auburn first offered the Sunshine State product in April and Melendez has gone on to visit The Plains twice since.

Now in his senior season at Osceola High School, Melendez is looking to rebound after missing much of his junior campaign with a broken foot.

With the commitment of Melendez, Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class now has its first linebacker in the fold.
