Austin High School Senior killed in wreck near Toyota Field

MADISON, Ala. (WHNT) — An Austin High School Senior was killed in a wreck on I-565 Saturday, according to family friend Tim Hall with Marshall County Schools.

Tim Hall with Marshall County Schools told News 19 that 18-year-old Josiah Flood was killed in a wreck on I-565 Saturday. In the statement released, Hall said he and his wife are friends of the family.

Flood was a senior at Austin High School in Decatur, according to Hall.

Hall wrote that Flood played football at Austin High School last year. He leaves behind his mom, dad, brothers and sister who just graduated from the school.

In a GoFundMe set up by Hall and his wife for the family, he said, “Josiah was kind, smart, fun-loving and he loved God and his family so very much.”

The GoFundMe was set up by Hall to help the family with funeral and burial expenses.

Below is the message from Hall and his wife on behalf of the family

“Hello…we are Tim and Lori Hall and our dear friend, Rachel Aponte, lost her son Josiah in a motorcycle accident Saturday, November 23, in Huntsville on I-565. Josiah was kind, smart, fun loving, and he loved God and his family so very much. Parents do not expect to be called upon to bury their children. This is heartbreaking for all of them. We are asking for any contribution you can give that will help the family meet funeral and burial expenses. We would be grateful for anything you could donate. If you know us, feel free to reach out to us personally. Please continue to pray for Rachel and her entire family during this very difficult time. Thank you so very much.”
