Austintown athletic center construction update

Austintown athletic center construction update

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Austintown has benefitted from the two phases of its athletic center being finished. During the two home playoff games, an elevator provided access for the handicapped to the bleachers.

Two phases of the project are complete, and two phases remain. Currently, the blocks are being laid for a building that will house a 55-yard field that can be used by sports teams, the band, and Fitch’s new drone program.

The building also will have classroom space.

This new facility is scheduled to open in the fall of 2025.

“I think it’s important for Austintown Schools, but I also think it’s important for our community too, to see that we’re continuing the excellence here that we have. It’s good for our student athletes. It’s good for our classrooms. Everybody can use this facility and progress with it,” said Matt Bostian, director of operations.

The final part of the project includes additional locker rooms, a weight room, and more learning space.
