The boozer’s last day of trading will be Thursday October 3 – when the Gers go up against Lyon in the Europa League games.

“We want to thank everyone for all their support over the years and hope you will join us on Sunday 29th September from 4pm for a Goodbye Party and let us end this era with all of you.”

Gutted pub-goers flocked to the comments to react to the disappointing news.

One said: “That’s awful news. Gutted for you all. It really is the end of an era.”

Another gutted regular added: “Sorry to see it go as many a good memory in there. Met some fantastic people no longer with us and will remember them and pub fondly for rest of my days. Thanks for the memories.”

A third wrote: “Gutted is an understatement”.
