Celebrities are more or less pillars of society, and everything they do happens in the public eye. It isn’t easy to maintain a perfect reputation or be the example everybody expects Hollywood stars or public figures to be. And above it all, it’s the criticism celebrities get for simply doing what they love doing that’s the worst. Unfortunately, Ayo Edebiri has had to deal with haters a lot.
Edebiri, who is currently one of the lead characters on FX’s hit show, The Bear, has had an incredible year so far. Her role as Sydney Adamu alongside Jeremy Allen White’s Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto did the show a lot of justice during this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards. But “fans” are just simply too critical for their own good.
Ayo Edebiri’s history with haters and how she’s dealt with it
Ayo Edebiri has worked on several critically acclaimed projects over the years, and she’s been awarded for her work as well. The 28-year-old boasts an Emmy victory under the category Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. But that’s not the only accolade she proudly owns.
Unfortunately, for some odd reason, people aren’t too fond of her. Several individuals have been posting hate comments online claiming that The Bear actress is overrated.
Well, such comments tend to lead to self-doubt and emotional turmoil. It is unclear why she gets so much hate, but such things cannot be avoided when you’re in the limelight.
Edebiri also received a lot of hate following comments she made on Jennifer Lopez. During a 2020 episode of the Scam Goddess podcast, Edebiri stated that she believes Lopez uses ghostwriters for her songs.
Fans immediately clapped at her, but she waited until her debut on SNL to address the hate. According to the Daily Beast, she said,
OK, OK, we get it. It’s wrong to leave mean comments or post comments just for clout or run your mouth on a podcast and you don’t consider the impact because you’re 24 and stupid… But I think I speak for everyone when I say from now on, we’re going to be a lot more thoughtful about what we post online!
Classy but impactful! Ayo Edebiri did the best she could to address the situation. As far as her comments go, they were pretty accurate, but not in Lopez’s case, perhaps.
Several musicians work together and collaborate to write music. In some cases, the actual writer of the song gets featured on the track, but in most others, “ghostwriters” don’t.
Haters might change their minds about Ayo Edebiri based on Anna Sawai’s comments about the star
This year was a great time for several budding actors in Hollywood and we got to witness many stars assume their thrones during the 76th Primetime Emmys. Besides Ayo Edebiri, another star in the making won big during the award ceremony, Anna Sawai.
Sawai, who has been juggling between the production of three shows, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, Shogun, and Pachinko, has a couple of good friends in the industry. She claimed that Baby Reindeer’s Nava Mau, as well as Edebiri, have been by her side through it all.
However, she mentioned a few things about Edebiri that might make haters second guess their decision to bash her online. According to Variety, Sawai claimed Edebiri advised her about the early stages of being a Hollywood figure. She said,
I think that she went through something similar and is at a different stage now. She’s maybe a couple years ahead of what I’m experiencing and gave me advice. She knew exactly what I was feeling… Just very genuine, and I made a really good connection with her.
Take that haters! But at the end of the day, people are going to have their opinions. But actors are going to do what they do best because that’s how they make a living.
Edebiri has always come out as a great person. Even during the 76th Primetime Emmys, while Jeremy Allen White delivered his acceptance speech, his co-star was seated in the audience, almost in tears. This simply shows the heart and compassion Edebiri carries with her.
The Bear can be streamed on Hulu.
