YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — A bench trial for a man accused of three counts of rape in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court is now finished.

Leonard Sykes, 51, went on trial Tuesday before Judge Anthony Donofrio on three first-degree felony counts of rape.

The trial took a break Wednesday and finished Thursday.

Judge Donofrio has yet to render a verdict. A court spokeswoman said a date will be selected shortly for the verdict to be announced.

Sykes was indicted in November 2022 by a grand jury following a September arrest.

The crimes he is charged with happened in August 2022, according to court records.

Sykes has been in the county jail since he was initially arrested.
