Britney Spears’ youngest son, Jayden, took the initiative to repair their strained relationship.
A source told Page Six Friday that the 18-year-old was the one to reach out and kick start conversation following years of estrangement.
“Jayden texted Britney to say he was back home,” our insider shared. “She was very happy to hear from and see him.”
Jayden and his brother, Sean Preston, moved to Hawaii last year after their stepmother, Victoria Prince, got a job at the University of Hawaii.
The boys’ father, Kevin Federline, has had full custody of them since 2008 — one year after he and Spears split.
Federline’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, recently told us the former DJ “was aware” Jayden had plans to visit his famous mom.
“He very close with all of his kids,” Kaplan said, adding, “If the boys feel comfortable improving their relationship with their mom, Kevin’s all for that.”
“Both these boys are adults. Kevin is supportive of them making their own decisions and what they feel is best for them.”
Earlier this week, Page Six exclusively revealed that the mother-son duo have “been spending a lot of time together” while he is “back in California,” where the “Toxic” singer resides.
“Britney is thrilled to have her baby back,” a second insider told us of the reunion. “Everything is moving in the right direction.”
The reunion has been slowly in the works for a while as Kaplan told us that Spears had gotten in touch with her kids in August 2023 and again on Mother’s Day this past June.
While it’s unclear how long Jayden plans to stay in Los Angeles, sources told Us Weekly the teen is not staying at Spears’ $7.4 million mansion in the city of Thousand Oaks.
“He is open to mending the relationship with his mom and seeing where things go,” a source told the outlet. “It’s going to take time and will not be an immediate reconciliation.”
Jayden is reportedly thinking about attending college in California and wanted to see some of his friends in LA after recently graduating high school in the Aloha State.
It’s unclear if Sean Preston, 19, has any plans to reunite with his mom anytime soon.
Page Six has reached out to Spears’ rep for comment.
Spears is officially done with her hefty child support payments now that both Jayden and Sean Preston have graduated high school.
Federline had been receiving $40,000 a month from the “Gimme More” singer up until last year, when Sean Preston turned 18. After his birthday, the exes agreed that Spears would send Federline $20,000 a month until Jayden became a legal adult or graduated high school.
However, earlier this week, Kaplan told us the pop star agreed to pay for other undisclosed expenses for the boys in the years to come.
While he did not elaborate on the agreed-upon terms, he used the cost of college education as an example.
