Burn victim taken to hospital following ‘suspicious’ house fire in CT

One person was taken to the hospital with serious burns following a suspicious fire at a home in Thompson late Wednesday.

The male was found about 200 feet into the woods on the property of a home on Quaddick Town Farm Road where emergency crews had been dispatched on the report of a structure fire, according to Connecticut State Police.

State police said the Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit was asked by the local fire marshal to respond to the scene just before 11 p.m. Investigators found that the fire was suspicious, leading to detectives with the Eastern District Major Crime Squad also responding.

According to state police, the burn victim was found in the early morning hours as crews were still at the scene investigating. The individual, who has not been identified, was taken to an area hospital. His condition was not immediately clear.

State police said they are still investigating and did not immediately have additional information to release.

The area around the home has been cordoned off by authorities.
