Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has just been released. After completing the promising Modern Warfare trilogy, Activision is now looking to revive its Black Ops series. The last game in the series, Black Ops Cold War, didn’t get a proper reception from the fans, which is why all the honors lay on the shoulders of the recently launched title.
However, things are not going very well for BO6 as the game is heavily criticized for the new movement mechanics called Omni-movements. Still, the main topic for concern in the recently launched game is the maps.
There Is No Fresh Approach in the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Maps
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has come up with 16 launch maps; 12 of them are Core 6v6 maps, and 4 of them are Strike Maps (2v2 or 6v6). Not only that, the OG Nuketown is also available in the game from November 1, 2024.
Despite launching more than 10 new maps, fans don’t get the essence of something innovative, as all the maps feel a repetitive approach. The first game of the series, Black Ops (2010), launched some new maps like Grid, WMD, Summit, Berlin Wall, and many more, which went on to become all-time classics.
However, fans are not hoping to see the same with the new BO6 maps. It feels like the new maps don’t have any potential to become all-time classics. There is another problem with the maps, and that is the infestation of campers. And that is because Activision didn’t implement any measures to stop them.
Maps Aren’t the Real Problem of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
Map experience in any game is an essential component for success. The more in-depth knowledge you have about the map you are playing in, the more you have an edge over the loopholes and chokepoints. However, with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, that is not the case.
If you know the spawn points in the maps, you can predict the probable position of the enemies so that you can pick an angle to secure that. But with the presence of Omni-movement, players can be anywhere now.
With the new movement mechanics, players have become ultra-fast and can change their locations in the blink of an eye, that too over longer distances. Also, in previous Call of Duty titles, you could dictate the potential timing of enemy engagement.
But as players are now fast, you might have to face random fights with your enemies. As per the fan, the new game is all about mindless running around, and you just have to expect to get slide cancel bunny hop peeked around every corner.
