Canada’s Tajon Buchanan returns to training after surgery

After a heartbreaking injury during Canada’s incredible Copa América 2024 campaign, Tajon Buchanan has returned to the pitch.

Two-and-a-half months after undergoing tibia surgery, the Inter Milan wingback was pictured on the pitch during a training session Thursday.

The Italian club posted a picture of the Canadian international to its X account alongside the caption “guardate chi c’è,” which translates to “look who’s here.”

Buchanan was injured during training in July, days before Canada’s Copa América quarterfinal match against Venezuela.

Shortly after, the 25-year-old underwent surgery and wrote on Instagram that the operation was a success.

“Lost for words,” the winger wrote. “Just want to say thank you for all the love and support. Operation was successful and road to recovery starts now. Comeback about to be crazy. Trust me.”

The Brampton, Ont., native joined the Serie A side in January after a transfer from Club Brugge in the Belgian first division. Buchanan scored his first goal for Inter in May during a 5-0 thrashing of Frosinone.

For Les Rouges, Buchanan has recorded four goals and six assists in 41 appearances. Known for his speed and technical ability, he was a vital part of Jesse Marsch’s Copa América campaign before exiting with injury, featuring in the tournament’s first three games.
