Celtic & Rangers Masters squads revealed as both sides name players who NEVER made a league appearance

The popular six-a-side tournament is back this year for the third year running after an 11-year hiatus from 2011-2022.

It will see footie heroes from the past strap their boots back on once again and wear their club’s colours for a night like the good old days.

The tournament will take place in Aberdeen this time around though after being held in Glasgow for the last two years since it’s return.

The venue will be Aberdeen’s P&J Live arena and it will be free to air for fans up and down the country as Sportscene will broadcast the event on the BBC Scotland channel.

Now the squads for the event have also been revealed.

Rangers and Celtic will do battle in an Old Firm clash at one point in the evening, with Aberdeen and Dundee United also selected to take part.

The Light Blues team will be captained by Barry Ferguson and Stiliyan Petrov will skipper the Hoops.

Taking the armband for Dundee United will be Willo Flood, while Russell Anderson will lead the Aberdeen line-up.

For Rangers, they have also chosen club legends such as Jermain Defoe, Kris Boyd, Lee McCulloch and Pedro Mendes.

Roy Carroll, who never made a league appearance for the club during his time at Ibrox, has been selected as their goalkeeper again after featuring in the 2022 edition.

Graham Dorrans and Dean Shiels will also play for the Gers.

Celtic won the competition last year and will hoping for more of the same this time around after naming another strong squad.

Considered by many as Celtic’s second best ever captain behind Billy McNeil, Scott Brown will feature for the side without the armband for a change after Petrov was named as skipper.
