Celtic tunnel and dressing room upgrades revealed as Parkhead given makeover ahead of Champions League opening night

CELTIC have been busy upgrading the tunnel and dressing room areas ahead of their big Champions League opening night.

And they’ve not spared any expense with a major upgrade of the club’s tunnel and dressing areas as Europe’s top stars prepare to arrive in the East End of Glasgow.

Hoops stars now see a number of slogans lit up in flourescent green which read: “Pride in the Badge” and “World Class Basics”.

Celtic wrote on their website: “On exiting the recently upgraded home dressing room, the Scottish Champions will now be met with a stylish, atmospheric and brilliantly green-lit walk to the tunnel, passing a famous quote delivered by the legendary Jock Stein, then on to a brilliant new wider access to the pitch. “

It’s the latest in a long line of improvements in Celtic’s infrastructure in recent years – including the famous ‘disco lights’ which were unveiled a few seasons ago.

The club are also building a full size indoor pitch on the Barrowfield training complex.

The Hoops have also been busy making modifications to their stadium in preparation for European allocations being introduced for matches against Rangers as well as Champions League duty.

Back in February applied to Glasgow City Council for planning permission for various alterations to the stadium.

These included the installation of security gates and fencing, alterations to existing fencing with formation of gates and new access steps.

It’s believed that European allocations will be introduced at matches between Rangers and Celtic after the first two games of this season.

As Celtic Park is a bigger stadium, a 5% rule means Gers fans getting 3,000 tickets for Parkhead, with Celtic fans getting 2,500 for the Govan stadium.

Meanwhile, a train has been vandalised with Celtic graffiti and spotted at Glasgow Central station today.

The paint job was noticed at around 9.30am this morning, just as many commuters would have been heading into the city and widely shared on social media.

The front carriage of the train was spray painted in colours associated with Celtic, with the words ‘Green Brigade’ in black noticeable near the doors at either end.

The letters ‘UC’ also appear in grey, which stands for Ultras Celtic.
