Charles Michel steps down as President of the European Council and receives tens of thousands of euros in severance pay: PVDA calls for its abolition


After five years, Charles Michel is done. On 1 December, the Belgian will step down as President of the European Council. Like other top politicians of the European Union, and judges of EU courts among others, Michel will receive a ‘bridging allowance’. This severance payment amounts to more than 16,000 euros gross per month, HLN calculated. PVDA is calling for the abolition of this allowance.
