Code Geass Has Multiple Deleted Scenes That Will Never See the Light of Day

Calling Code Geass a wildly entertaining series would be an understatement. The protagonist is a master strategist and the overall character development is simply marvelous. While the ending is considered controversial by some, it still does not take away from the anime’s popularity.

The series is co-created by Goro Taniguchi and Ichirou Okouchi and follows an exiled prince who obtains the power of absolute obedience. From here, the series delves into rebellion and mecha battles.

In an interview, Ichirou Okouchi revealed that creating Code Geass was harder than it seemed. According to the screenwriter, the production team had to work extremely hard on the project, and several scenes had to be cut down.

Well a lot of cuts in the story had to be made, and the production team had to work really hard.

If this statement is true, it means several scenes from the anime were edited out, and these extra scenes will never see the light of day. Code Geass fans would probably kill to get a Director’s Cut version, which includes all the excluded parts. The screenwriter continued that despite cuts being made, more and more characters and story settings kept getting established. Naturally, the number of images that had to be drawn increased.

Okouchi also explained that the characters, as well as mecha elements in the anime, were bountiful, so the staff had to be extremely skilled. He then credited the staff members of the anime for the detailed piece of work that is Code Geass, and they are also the reason that the anime exceeded everyone’s expectations.

Okouchi admitted that writing the script for Code Geass was extremely difficult. The mecha and school elements were hard-hitting for him. In the first season, the stage in which the anime is set is in Japan. However, in the second season, the story moves to a wider stage: which is the world.

He also admitted that a part of him is reflected in Lelouch’s character (the protagonist). He claimed that he had been told he had some resemblance to Schneizel. Schnieizelis is the Prime Minister of the Holy Britannia Empire, and as a strategist, he can even rival Lelouch.

In trying to do something original, the personality and attitude of the creator can be reflected in the key character/s.

Thus, both Goro Taniguchi and Okouchi have somehow embodied the Code Geass characters while creating the anime. It is interesting to know that some elements of the characters actually exist in real life and it is amongst their creators.

The Code Geass anime is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll.
