LIBERTY TWP., Ohio (WKBN) – As one specialty hospital in Liberty prepares to start caring for patients, another next door is taking shape.
Construction at the 72-bed Mercy Health Behavioral Health Hospital is well underway. The facility is on Belmont Avenue, adjacent to the new Mercy Health Rehabilitation Hospital. Mercy Health and Lifepoint Behavioral Health have partnered together on the project.
The hospital will provide inpatient treatment for people who suffer from behavioral health conditions such as depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, and schizophrenia.
“Those people are the same people that we would be taking care of on our in-patient behavioral health unit at St. Elizabeth just with an expanded purpose-built facility,” said Dr. John Luellen, market president of Mercy Health Youngstown and Lorain.
Mercy Health Behavioral Hospital is expected to open around this time next year.
