Country music icon, despite 2013 stroke, to tour with original band

Country music icon, despite 2013 stroke, to tour with original band

Randy Travis is hitting the road in 2025 for his “More Life” Tour dates.

The tour, which started over the summer, has kept Travis involved, despite a 2013 stroke that left the singer unable to perform. However, Travis will travel with vocalist James Dupré, who performs with Travis’ original touring band.

Travis and his wife Mary will be onstage to interact with fans.

“The ‘More Life’ Tour celebrates so much more than a musical moment in time,” Travis said in a statement, per Taste of Country. “It’s a gift to me to spend time with my fans, and my band, as James Dupré perfectly presents the songs that best define my career.”

Earlier this year, Travis put out an AI-generated new song titled “Where That Came From,” sparking a new debate angle on the controversial topic of artificial intelligence’s ever-evolving and little-litigated role in music performance.

Producer Kyle Lehning and Warner Music pulled 42 tracks, stripped away the music, leaving just the vocal. They then got a “surrogate” voice, DuPre.

The AI program takes Travis’ voice and overlays DuPre’s singing.
