CT airport to get new non-stop flight to vacation island

New nonstop service will begin from Bradley International Airport to Bermuda’s L.F. Wade International Airport next year, according to the Connecticut Airport Authority.

The BermudAir flights are scheduled to begin on April 3, 2025, and operate on Thursdays and Sundays, according to the Connecticut Airport Authority.

The news of the new flights comes just days after Avelo Airlines had its base opening on Nov. 7, at Bradley and announced the launch of four new domestic routes, with an additional three routes starting this week.

The Avelo debut routes are to Charlotte/Concord and Wilmington in North Carolina, according to the airport. Starting Nov. 8, two additional routes were launched to Daytona Beach and Orlando/Lakeland in Florida.

Avelo  also “will add Houston, Texas (HOU) and its first scheduled international flights with service to Cancun, Mexico (CUN) and Montego Bay, Jamaica (MBJ),” according to Avelo.

The new Avelo flights will run two days a week, according to the Connecticut Airport Authority, with the aforementioned flights to North Carolina running on Thursdays and Sundays.

BermudAir has business and economy classes onboard its fleet of Embraer 175 aircraft, according to the Connecticut Airport Authority.

“We are thrilled that BermudAir has chosen Bradley International Airport as one of its airports,” said Kevin A. Dillon, A.A.E., Executive Director of the CAA, in a statement. “This new route will provide convenient connectivity for leisure and business travelers who are looking to visit this popular destination and aligns with our commitment to offer access to more international routes.”

The CAA noted Bermuda’s airport provides border preclearance for passengers returning to the United States, so  they clear U.S. Customs and Border Protection in Bermuda before returning to BDL.

“We’re excited to bring the warmth and island hospitality of Bermuda closer to travelers in Connecticut,” said Adam Scott, CEO & Founder of BermudAir, in the statement. “This new route between Bradley International and Bermuda not only opens doors for leisure and business connections but also offers our guests a seamless and enriching journey. We look forward to welcoming our passengers onboard and sharing Bermuda’s unique spirit with each flight.”

Bradley International Airport is Connecticut’s largest airport and New England’s second-largest airport, according to the CAA.

According to the CAA, BermudAir has a fleet of Embraer E175 aircraft and already has flights to and from Westchester Country Airport, Boston Logan International Airport, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Orlando International Airport and Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. It also operates flights to Toronto Pearson International Airport and Halifax Stanfield International Airport in Canada.
