A man was arrested on Tuesday for driving more than 120 mph on Route 2 in Lebanon.
A trooper stopped in the median around 6:45 p.m. spotted the driver in a Hyundai Elantra on Route 2 East before Exit 22 going at what appeared to be a high rate of speed, according to Connecticut State Police.
The trooper caught up to the driver and spotted the vehicle weaving through traffic and going between 120 and 130 mph in a 65 mph zone, state police said. The Hyundai then got off the highway at Exit 23 in Bozrah where the vehicle made a right onto Haughton Road and reached speeds as fast as 75 mph in a 30 mph zone, according to state police.
State police said the driver then turned onto Fitchville Road and maintained speeds between 60 to 75 MPH in a 35 mph zone. The trooper then pulled the vehicle over.
The driver was identified as 20-year-old Kodi James Vining of Lebanon, according to state police. Vining admitted to the trooper he was going about 122 mph, state police said.
Vining was arrested and taken to Troop K in Colchester. He faces charges of reckless driving and first-degree reckless endangerment.
Vining was released on $2,000 bond and is expected to be arraigned in Norwich Superior Court on Nov. 21.
