A man was arrested for allegedly peering at a woman and her young child through a bathroom window at a home in Andover late Tuesday.
State troopers responded to a residence on Center Street shortly before 9 p.m. on the report of a male peeping through a window and found a woman receiving medical attention for a hand laceration, according to Connecticut State Police.
State police said the woman told troopers she was bathing along with her 1-year-old child when she allegedly saw a man looking through a window at her. The woman alleged that the man startled her, leading to her slapping the window, which shattered the glass and cut her hand, according to state police.
The woman told troopers the man allegedly took off afterward. She said she was able to identify him as a neighbor.
According to state police, the woman was able to provide a very detailed description of the man and what he was wearing, which included lint on his jacket and a fur-lined hood. A trooper noted that they were familiar with the alleged suspect from previous similar incidents.
The alleged suspect was identified as 34-year-old Joshua Gonsalves of Andover, according to state police. Troopers tried to contact Gonsalves at his residence, but he was not there. A female in the home was able to contact him and have him come back to the residence.
When Gonsalves arrived he was immediately detained in handcuffs, state police said. Troopers reported finding the jacket described by the woman in Gonsalves’ vehicle, according to state police.
Gonsalves was arrested and charged with voyeurism, disorderly conduct and third-degree criminal trespassing. He was held on a $10,000 bond and was expected to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Nov. 6.
