CT man in unregistered car arrested during narcotics investigation

A man spotted in an unregistered vehicle during a narcotics investigation in Waterbury was arrested after police allegedly found marijuana and money during a search of the car.

The Waterbury Police Department’s VICE and Intelligence Unit, Gang Task Force, Auto Theft Task Force and the Connecticut State Police Violent Crimes Task Force were conducting an investigation into narcotics activity on Tuesday when officers allegedly observed a suspicious vehicle parked with the engine running on North Main Street, according to Lt. Ryan Bessette.

A check revealed that the vehicle was unregistered, Bessette said.  Officers conducted a search of the car and reportedly seized $40, drug paraphernalia and 179.9 grams of marijuana packaged for sale, according to Bessette.

The driver, identified as 41-year-old Gregory Thompson of Bridgeport, was arrested and charged with operating a drug factory, misuse of a marker plate, operating a motor vehicle without a license, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and possession of narcotics with intent to sell.

Thompson was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled for court arraignment on Nov. 22, Bessette said.
