(WHTM) – Pennsylvania’s Senator-elect Dave McCormick (R) says he will attend the Senate’s orientation this week after not initially receiving an invitation.
“Looking forward to joining the Senate freshman class of 2025 for orientation this week!” said McCormick. I’m honored to represent the people of Pennsylvania, and will fight hard to make sure their voices are heard in Washington. Let’s get to work!”
Incumbent Senator Bob Casey (D) has not yet conceded the race to McCormick with thousands of ballots still being counted and the race hinging on less than 40,000 votes. On Monday his campaign again insisted on waiting for all votes to be counted.
Should the race finish within half a point there will be an automatic recount, however McCormick’s lead grew over the weekend.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) initially not invited McCormick with his office saying they would invite a winner “once the votes are counted.” Request for comment from Schumer’s office on whether the invitation was extended to McCormick were not returned.
