Koyoharu Gotouge’s Demon Slayer has grown to be one of the most popular new-gen Shonen series, especially for the epic action-centred narrative. While the story primarily revolves around Tanjiro Kamado, other characters like Akaza and Nezuko have been fan favorites since he was featured.
Though he was one of the most detested characters for killing Kyojuro Rengoku, the Fire Hashira, the community grew sympathy for him as they learned about his past; the very least that they felt was no hate for the character.
The viewers were impressed by his dedication to becoming the strongest in both the Kizuki lineup and the humans. In the process, he would eliminate his targets with nothing but his sheer fist. Though he is an Upper Moon 3, he would not have made the cut to be a Hashira, and a fitting reason follows it.
Akaza Would Never Meet The Requirements To Become A Hashira
In Koyoharu Gotouge’s Demon Slayer, Akaza is arguably the most obstinate Upper Moon, who despises the weak from the core of his heart. Just like Goku from Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball series, he is passionate about getting stronger, and this obsession made him a demon in the first place.
When he was featured in the Infinity Train Arc, he quickly felt affectionate towards Kyōjurō Rengoku, the Flame Hashira, because of how strong he was. The Upper Moon even offered him to become a Demon to get stronger and become his sparring partner.
Despite being one of the strongest in Muzan’s Twelve Kizuki, he will not be selected to become a Hashira in the Demon Slayer Corps. According to a popular Demon Slayer creator (@AnimentOG), they mentioned how true fans could relate to the Upper Moons being eligible for being a Hashira, all but one.
The Upper Three is the only misfit, and it has nothing to do with his motivation or strength. The creator explains that even back as a human he was “able to kill all the students of his enemy Dojo by himself.” Hence the best weapon that he possesses is “his fists.”
Using nothing but bare fists and becoming an Upper Moon 3 is an impressive feat in itself, but to be eligible for becoming a Hashira, he needs to use a weapon made exclusively from the ore used in the Nichirin Blades.
The idea of Akaza becoming a Demon Slayer sounds like a good idea, but not witnessing him use his fists of destruction would ruin an essential part of the character. However, fans were quick to think of a solution for the demon to qualify for the role.
Fans React to Akaza Using a Weapon To Become A Hashira
Fans have seen instances of how different weapons, like the bullets made of the special ore for Genya or Inosuke’s dual-wielding katana, are not too practical; even Shinobu’s blade is absurd, but it does qualify the three of them to be Hashira.
The community was quick to think that the Upper Moon could become a Hashira and use his fists if he wielded a knuckle from the scarlet ore used for the blades. They commented,
@mr.knightthedetective7435 commented, “Nah fam, give him a pair of nichirin knuckles and he SLAYS demons”
@JustASmileyEmoji commented, “Knuckles made out of nichirin steel would be the perfect fit for Akaza.”
@emsiyes commented, “Ngl the idea of brass knuckles actually makes Akaza look more badass”
@taiall commented, “Give him those Knuckle Knives that Asuma uses and he’d be a fire Demon Slayer”
@Foxyplayz.exe101 commented, “Brass knuckles!!!!! But with the stuff used in nichirin blades”
Though the situation is completely hypothetical, the idea of watching a completely new set of Hashiras, that too, the Upper Moons, sounds exciting. But more importantly, watching Akaza in action is probably the coolest part about him, as he has a strong sense of honor and wants to have a clear fight against his foe.
