The Dodgers’ starting staff just can’t seem to catch a break.
Lefty Clayton Kershaw was placed on the 15-day injured list after suffering a toe injury in his start against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday, the team announced Saturday.
According to the team, he’s dealing with a bone spur in his left big toe.
Kershaw exited the game in the second inning after giving up a lead-off home run to Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll. He gave up two runs in the first inning before that.
The 36-year-old has had a trying time, joining the team late into the season after undergoing off-season shoulder surgery. He had only made six starts for the Dodgers before Friday.
On the season, Kershaw has a 4.50 ERA with 24 strikeouts in 30 innings. He has yet to go over six innings pitched in a start this season.
The Dodgers have dealt with a plethora of pitching injuries this season, particularly to their starters, with Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, Dustin May and River Ryan all on the IL.
