Dragon Ball DAIMA’s Dub Releasing in Theatres Comes with a Fatal Flaw for Missing Out the Actual Good Part About the Anime

Dragon Ball DAIMA debuted on October 11 and immediately washed fans over with a wave of nostalgia. The series became a breath of fresh air for those who have been sorely missing out on the adventure aspect of the original Dragon Ball series.

DAIMA is the first original addition to the Dragon Ball franchise in almost seven years, and it is getting a limited-time theatrical release. The first four episodes of the anime have already been released and fans are expecting a fantastic screening.

Dragon Ball DAIMA‘s Screening Might Miss Out on the Most Crucial Aspect of the Anime

The first three episodes of Dragon Ball DAIMA English dub are set to be released from November 10 to 12, 2024. Not much information has been revealed about the screening other than the fact that it is a compilation of the first three episodes. However, there is one major flaw in the concept.

The first episode of Dragon Ball DAIMA served as an introduction to the series and how the Z-Warriors became their pint-sized versions. In episodes 2 and 3, the plot kept building up, with minimal battle scenes. The sense of adventure has been properly built in the first three episodes, but fans are sure that more interesting ones are yet to arrive. In fact, the screening might not even show any proper fights between tiny Goku and the villains.

Spoiler Alert !!!

Spoilers for Dragon Ball DAIMA episode 4

The action begins in episode 4 when Glorio, Shin, and Goku fight monsters along their way, and later on, Goku straps up his boots to battle Gomah’s minions. Episode 5 probably awaits the real battle sequences that everyone has been waiting for. If the theatrical release had compiled more than just the first three episodes, there would be more interesting scenes to keep fans occupied. Instead, the screening would be much shorter than one and a half hours (since each episode is around 25 minutes long with OP and ED), which might lead the audience to leave feeling unsatisfied.

Those who have already gulped down the currently released episodes of Dragon Ball DAIMA have reported it to be far more refreshing than the franchise’s previous installments. It is the last Dragon Ball project that Akira Toriyama worked on before passing away. In what is presumed to be his last interview, the mangaka admitted that not only did he draw the story of DAIMA, he also created the worldview, character design and mechas.

I believe it will be a production rich in content, not just intense action. I would be grateful if you could enjoy watching.

-Akira Toriyama

While Dragon Ball is mostly known for its action scenes and muscle-bulging moves, fans miss the sense of adventure they felt in the first Dragon Ball series. Toriyama tried his best to rejuvenate that sense of adventure in Dragon Ball DAIMA and from the looks of it, he has succeeded. The latest series is rich in content, just as the mangaka intended.

Rather than just focusing on insane powerups and crazy hairstyles, DAIMA develops its plot, characters, and other details far better. The series was initially planned to be an original series created without the help of Akira Toriyama but as the author gave advice here and there, he eventually ended up getting deeply involved with the project.

Dragon Ball DAIMA anime is currently available to stream on Hulu and Crunchyroll.
