Dramatic moment cop is rammed off motorbike by car thief reversing into him during high-speed chase

THIS is the dramatic moment a cop was rammed off his motorbike after pursuing a car thief during a high-speed chase.

PC Richard Keel was on his marked police bike in Camden, North London, when he noticed David Doyle speeding in a stolen car.

The cop immediately gave chase – leading to a pursuit through busy streets as Doyle, 19, attempted to flee.

Footage shows the police officer with his sirens blaring as he attempts to arrest the teen.

As he drives up to the car, Doyle revs the stolen car as he reverses quickly towards PC Keel.

He then knocks the cop off his bike as the sound of broken glass crunching can be heard.

Doyle has now been jailed for five-and-a-half years after he admitted driving offences and causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Harrow Crown Court heard PC Keel was left with significant injuries following the horror on May 17.

Thankfully, members of the public rushed over to help before paramedics arrived.

Doyle left the injured cop in the road and later abandoned the car one mile away from the horror scene.

He was arrested six days later after police trawled through CCTV footage and identified him as the driver.

As well as a jail sentence, Doyle was also disqualified from driving for 81 months.

PC Keel, who is based on the Central North Command Unit, said: “Although I’m on a challenging journey to recovery, I’m pleased that Doyle has been brought to justice for the attack.

“This incident is a reminder of the dangers we face as we strive to keep communities and Londoners safe.

“I would like to thank the members of the public that helped me that day and my colleagues who have been extremely supportive during this difficult time.”
