LORRAINE Kelly has been left devastated by the loss of one of her favourite childhood stores after 140 years of business.
The telly queen, 64, told of her shock over the closure of the iconic shop in her hometown Glasgow.
The daytime chat show host was born in the city and grew up just a few miles away in East Kilbride.
And she revealed her sadness after it emerged the location of some of her fondest childhood memories in the city had shut down.
The famous Tam Shepherds Trick Shop announced its closure on Monday morning.
Staff revealed they had closed the shop for good on Saturday after serving customers for the final time.
It prompted a huge reaction from Glaswegians who told of their shock at the closure and shared their own memories of the shop – believed to be one of the oldest magic shops in the world.
Lorraine shared a message of support on her social media, as she recalled some of her favourite memories of the store from growing up in the city.
In an Instagram post, she wrote: “Nooooooo, Tam Shepherds is to close.
“Such a big part of my childhood – every trip into “toon” on the bus from Brigton wasn’t complete without a visit to Tam’s to spend my pocket money.
“You can still visit the online shop but this is the end of an era.”
The popular shop was known for selling costumes, accessories and props to magic lovers and Halloween revellers in Scotland.
They operated from the city’s Queen Street since opening in 1886.
The store was owned by the Walton family who have been in charge of it for more than 75 years.
In a statement to customers, they said: “We are sad to announce that Saturday 9th November 2024 was the last day of trading from our long established bricks and mortar shop in Queen Street.
“The building that we are part of is to be redeveloped.
“The new development includes retail space, and we have the opportunity to re-open in what we hope will be a revitalised, small-business friendly, city centre.
“However, the uncertainty over the redevelopment, together with high costs of being a small independent shop in the city centre in the current climate, is not sustainable for us.
“Tam Shepherds will continue our online shop, tamshepherds.com supplying customers with our range of magic tricks, jokes, and costumes.
“To all our customers and friends, thank you so much for your continued custom and support.
“We hope to welcome you back in the future. And thank you to Glasgow for making Tam Shepherds the shop it has been.”
One heartbroken fan wrote: “Sad to see a Glasgow icon shutting physical doors. I no longer live there, but enjoyed visits and always came to the store.”
A second added: “That’s a terrible, terrible shame.”

While a fourth added: “So sorry to hear this – my dad taking me to visit your shop, during long and boring family shopping trips, was always a cherished highlight of my childhood.
