Estevao Willian reveals Chelsea transfer will not stop him from continuing with school work

Future Chelsea arrival Estevao Willian reveals that he will continue with school work even after making the switch to Stamford Bridge next summer.

Estevao Willian has revealed that he will continue with his education even after completing a big-money transfer to Chelsea.

Earlier this year, Chelsea announced that they had finalised a deal for the 17-year-old who will move to Stamford Bridge in July for a fee that could eventually reach €57m.

FIFA regulations prevent the teenager from moving to England until he has turned 18, but remaining at Palmeiras has proven to be a blessing in disguise.

Last week, Estevao became the first player in the history of the Brasileirao to provide 20 goals or assists in a single season when below the age of 18.

Furthermore, he has earned a second call-up to the Brazil squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Uruguay.

Prior to that fixture, Estevao has spoken to Transfermarkt, revealing that he will have an alternative focus to just playing football when arriving in London.

“I’m dedicating myself a lot”

Estevao says that he will continue to do school work via an online course, as well as placing an emphasis on learning English as quickly as possible.

The starlet said: “I still have a long way to go before I finish school. I have one more year to go.

“I said, it’s not easy. I’m going to have to study in London. But I’m going to stay at the same school, I’m going to continue studying online.

“I’ll take English classes whenever I can because there are weeks with a lot of games that I can’t play. I’m learning well, I’m dedicating myself a lot to learning the language.”

What next for Estevao in the short term?

After the international double-header, Estevao will return to the battle for the Brazilian top-flight title, Palmeiras currently sitting four points adrift of leaders Botafogo in the standings.

However, with the two teams still to face each other, the title race remains very much alive with four matches remaining.

There is also a plan in place for Estevao to travel to London in December to meet Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca for the first time.
