Ex-Rangers star lined up for Juventus move just months after he added £1.2m profit on top of £1m deal

Contract stipulations in Tillman’s loan deal from the Bundesliga giants meant when Bayern reneged on their set-fee at the end of the American’s stay, Rangers raked it in.

Initially they landed £1m compensation for Bayern backing out of the agreement.

Then in May they landed 10 per cent of his £12m move to PSV Eindhoven.

It proved financially profitable for Gers and to Tillman’s reputation as he joined the Dutch side permanently after a season-long loan.

Now he’s in the sights of Serie A giants Juventus.

The Bianconeri watched him in action against Canada at Kansas City on Saturday, with view to making a north American swoop.

ESPN reports the Italians were scouting Canada and Lille forward Jonathan David as well as Tillman and Ricardo Pepi in the USMNT.

The former Ger played just over an hour before being subbed in the 2-1 defeat for USA – their first at home to their northern neighbours in 67 years.

Celtic defender Alistair Johnston was also subbed – but after 25 minutes with injury fears over the Hoops right-back.

Boss Jesse Marsch hopes they’ve caught it in time to avoid disrupting his plans in the Champions League which kicks off against Slovan Bratislava next week.

Rangers ‘targeted for £150million takeover by American investors’

He said: “Alistair said he felt a little bit of tightness in his hamstring and he felt it was smarter to step out.

“If you go back to the Holland game in June, he also did that and he knows his body

“From that game, he was able to recover and play against France a few days later, so let’s hope it’s a similar type of situation.

“I am hopeful that he will be okay.”

His Celtic team-mate Cameron Carter-Vickers was not involved in the friendly clash between the 2026 World Cup host nations. The centre-back was not called up by the USA squad for this international window which also includes a game against New Zealand.
