With the death of Saint Jaygarcia Saturn and Figarland Garling replacing him to become the next Warrior God of Science and Defense, the One Piece manga has seen a major shift in the power of the World Government. This change can prove to be a big problem for the Straw Hat Pirates, as Garling is rumored to be even more ruthless and brutal than Saturn.
While One Piece fans are excited to see how Garling performs his duties as the newly appointed Elder, the one thing that is even more anticipated by fans is his Yokai form. As fans know, every Elder in the series possesses a demonic Yokai form with terrifying abilities that make them the biggest danger in the One Piece universe.
Thus, it is possible that, just like the others, Imu also gave him a Yokai form when Garling made his Faustian deal with the Supreme Leader of the World Government. While fans guess Garling’s power, a One Piece theory has given the best possible explanation of what devilish form Garling takes in the future of the series.
Figarland Garling’s Yokai Form in One Piece
The theory posted by @writingpanini is based on the fact that the Yokai forms of the Elders are a result of the Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit and Imu is the Devil who granted them these powers. The theory states that depending on Garling’s character, he could be the Fenrir from Norse mythology, a giant and dangerous wolf, who possesses monstrous strength.
This assumption comes from the fact that Fenrir was Saturn’s moon and Garling’s appearance looks a lot like that of a moon from the side. Thus Garling’s replacement of Saturn could symbolize him becoming Fenrir. There is a strong chance that Garling’s Faustian deal with Imu helped him earn the Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit abilities of the wolf, along with other important strengths of the Five Elders.
This theory about Garling being Fenrir also supports another hypothesis about Shanks having a twin brother. In Norse mythology, Fenrir has two sons: Hati and Sköll. While Hati chased the sun, referencing Shanks’ pursuit of Sun God Nika, Skoll chased the moon, referencing Shanks’ twin who is on the dark side of the One Piece narrative.
Figarland Garling’s First Step as the Warrior God of Science and Defense
As Garling is the newly appointed Elder, he might have to go through a lot to earn the trust of Imu and other Elders. He would potentially have to do something unprecedented to make his name and the best possible task for him would be to retrieve the Punk records.
As the spoilers reveal, Punk Records detaches itself and flies away with the help of Cloud Machine taking away all the information that Vegapunk had stored. Thus, Garling retrieving it and using them to find out more about Vegapunk’s research could help the World Government.
Additionally, he also now has control of York which would allow him to track the Punk Records. It could be a big step for Garling and it could mark the beginning of his journey as an Elder. Fans will have to wait and see how the upcoming events of One Piece play out.
