While there is no denying that Curry does a convincing job of playing such a character, it is always important to remember that at the end of the day, it is all just an act. Although most fans understand the clear difference between reality and fiction, some seem to cross lines for the sake of a reaction.

Recently, Curry decided to release a statement targeted towards the latter of the two categories after having a bad experience with a fan.

Valorie Curry Established Boundaries

Comic-Con is often one of the best places for fans to be. Full of life and a celebration of fandoms, audiences can interact with others who have the same interests as they do, as well as get an opportunity to meet the stars of their favorite works. Recently, Valorie Curry made an appearance at the Comic Con Northern Ireland and unfortunately, a place that is supposed to be full of happiness turned into something sour for her.

Everyone, for the most part, has been so lovely and so kind and so respectful. It’s really been wonderful. But, we do need to talk about boundaries and what is appropriate in terms of behavior. I knew people saw a character that I played do some very extreme things on The Boys.

Taking to her Instagram stories (via X), the actress addressed a recent experience that she had, talking about boundaries when it comes to fan interactions. She started by talking about how Firecracker does a lot of very extreme things throughout her time in The Boys. While there is no denying that her actions only added to the shock appeal of the series, it is always important to remember the fact that she was only acting.

I don’t care if you’re in costume. I don’t care if you are in character. It’s not okay and it’s not funny to demand those things from me in person at my booth. It’s not okay.

She explained that even though her character was quite bizarre on the show, there is absolutely no appropriate situation where anyone can ask her to do the same things in person. She pointed out that some lines should not be crossed and even if someone is in costume as a character from the show, they should know what they can and cannot ask from another person at a convention.

Valorie Curry’s Inappropriate Fan Interaction

Many fans may wonder what brought about such a targeted message from Valorie Curry. The actress explained exactly this in her video, starting by stating that a majority of the fans are extremely respectful towards her. However, she had quite an awful experience on the first day of the event that forced her to speak up.

She revealed that when she was at the event, one fan approached her with his friend and asked her an extremely inappropriate question. The actress revealed that they asked her to do something that her character did on the show. What made the situation all the worse was when she revealed that her refusal and discomfort at the demand did not deter them.

Frankly to the person who did that repeatedly today. I made it pretty clear that it wasn’t okay and that only seemed to make this person and their friend angry.

Instead, the two fans got angry after hearing her refusal to comply. Not only was the entire interaction extremely inappropriate, but it was also downright rude and clearly upset Curry. Although many fans get hardcore into the spirit of an event or the costume that they are wearing, she mentioned should never be fine to say such things to another person.
