Flames GM Conroy on Pelletier contract talks: ‘We’re going to get it done’

Despite being less than a month from the start of the season, Calgary Flames general manager Craig Conroy isn’t too worried about Jakob Pelletier‘s contract situation.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, the GM addressed where the team is at with Pelletier, who is a restricted free agent.

“We’re still negotiating. It’s never as quick as you’d like, but I get that,” said Conroy, according to Postmedia‘s Wes Gilbertson.

“He’s got some ideas where he’s at, but I’m pretty sure we’re going to get it done. We’re getting closer.”

The 23-year-old Pelletier is coming off a three-year, entry-level deal worth $2.59 million that he signed with the Flames in 2019.

Splitting the 2023-24 season between the Flames and their AHL affiliate, the Calgary Wranglers, Pelletier missed a chunk of time due to injuries.

He recorded three points (one goal and two assists) in 13 games with the Flames and 12 points (five goals and seven assists) in 18 games with the Wranglers.

Across 37 career NHL games with the Flames, Pelletier has a total of 10 points (four goals and six assists).

The Quebec City native was selected by the organization 26th overall at the 2019 NHL Draft.
