Football roundup: JSerra improves to 4-0; Dana Hills, Tustin, Beckman and La Habra also win in Week 3

Junior quarterback Ryan Hopkins had two long touchdown runs and threw two touchdown passes for JSerra in a 28-19 win over Lincoln, the top-ranked team in the San Diego Section, Friday at Southwestern College.

The Lions have started a season 4-0 for the first time since 2018.

Dylan Brown and Brett DeBergh had touchdown receptions for JSerra. Madden Faraimo led JSerra’s defense in tackles.

In other games Friday:

Bishop Gorman 55, Orange Lutheran 28: Orange Lutheran suffered its first loss of the season on the road against Bishop Gorman of Las Vegas.

Chris Flores Jr. had two touchdown receptions for Orange Lutheran (3-1) and threw a touchdown pass. TJ Lateef threw two touchdown passes to Flores and one to Tyler Hennessey.

Lateef led the Lancers on an 80-yard scoring drive to open the game.

Dana Hills 40, Esperanza 34: Radley Geiss ran for the game-winning touchdown with 12 seconds remaining for Dana Hills (4-0).

James Leicester set a school-record with 14 receptions and had 147 receiving yards with two touchdowns. Geiss had three touchdown runs for the Dolphins, all in the second half.

Travis Frazier threw three touchdown passes to Edward Khutshivili for Esperanza (2-1).

Trabuco Hills 42, Irvine 7: Trabuco Hills had 481 yards of offense in its rout of Irvine.

Tristan Zale completed 15 of 22 passes for 263 yards with three touchdowns for the Mustangs (3-0). Landon Pompey ran for 92 yards with a pair of touchdowns and Gavin Mulhall ran for a touchdown.

Ryan Luce caught eight passes for 150 yards with three touchdowns.

Beckman 20, Portola 7: Noah Czaykowski had an interception and a receiving touchdown for Beckman in a win over Portola.

Makhi Czaykowski had a rushing touchdown for Beckman (4-0) and CJ Bertoni caught a touchdown pass from Noah Nam. Beckman is 4-0 for the first time since 2006.

Joshua Whang had a touchdown run for Portola (0-4).

Cypress 42, Lawndale 14: Cypress ran for 233 yards with three touchdowns in a win over Lawndale.

Jaiden Anthony had two rushing touchdowns and Bryson Busbee had 83 yards with a touchdown. Makkah Felix had 69 yards receiving with a touchdown for Cypress (2-2).

Laguna Hills 28, St. Margaret’s 14: Ben Trocchio threw two touchdown passes for Laguna Hills in a win over St. Margaret’s.

Dylan Sciacca and Mason Fromm each had touchdown receptions for Laguna Hills (2-2). Khryztopher Entrala and Charlie Harris had touchdown runs for the Hawks.

Kai Letcher and Nathan Stanley had rushing touchdowns for St. Margaret’s (1-2).

Capistrano Valley Christian 39, Calvary Chapel 28, OT: Josh Monroe ran for a touchdown in the final minute of the game and Capistrano Valley Christian converted a 2-point attempt to beat Calvary Chapel.

Monroe had three rushing touchdowns for Capo Valley Christian (3-1). Nate Richie threw a touchdown pass to Max Krosky.

Matthew Peters had five touchdowns for Calvary Chapel (0-4). He had three rushing touchdowns, a kick return touchdown and a punt return touchdown.

Godinez 31, Santa Ana Valley 0: Henry Vega had two rushing touchdowns for Godinez in a win over Santa Ana Valley.

Godinez (2-2) also got rushing touchdowns from Damien Arreola and Alexis Jimenez.

Costa Mesa 40, Savanna 26: Andrew Waiss had a big passing game for Costa Mesa in a win over Savanna.

The junior quarterback completed 15 of 21 passes for 241 yards with two touchdowns for Costa Mesa (3-1). Sophomore Gavin Garza led the team in rushing with 80 yards.

Laguna Beach 41, Gig Harbor 0: Jackson Kollock threw for 238 yards with three touchdowns and added a rushing touchdown for Laguna Beach in its victory over Gig Harbor of Washington.

Brady Stringham had 107 yards receiving with a touchdown for Laguna Beach (4-0). Wyatt Degner had two touchdown receptions and Grant Regal added another.

Declan Murray had a rushing touchdown and Jack Hurst threw a touchdown pass.

Mission Viejo 63, Highland 6: Mission Viejo scored 56 unanswered points in a rout of Highland of Palmdale.

Vance Spafford had two touchdown receptions for Mission Viejo (4-0), both from Draiden Trudeau. Luke Fahey threw a touchdown pass to Grant Nichols.

Hinesward Lilomaiava, Luke Fahey, Devonte Curtis and Kale’ Murphy ran for touchdowns for the Diablos. Mission Viejo’s defense returned two interceptions for touchdowns, one was from Jayden Hill. The Diablos have returned an interception for a touchdown in each of their four games this season.

Tustin 33, Fountain Valley 14: Freshman quarterback Ayden Edwards threw three touchdown passes for the Tillers (4-0).

Montrevian Cushionberry caught two of Edwards’ touchdown passes. Trey Brown caught the other. Gustavo Martinez ran for a touchdown and Ricky Ioane had two sacks.

Tustin All-County running back Eimesse Essis did not play because of turf toe. Tillers coach Tony Lopez said Essis might play against Yorba Linda on Saturday, Sept. 21.

La Habra 42, Orange 8: Quarterback/safety Kenny Saucedo ran for a touchdown, passed for a touchdown and returned a punt for a touchdown for the Highlanders (3-1).

Running backs Bobby Brooks and Kevika Martinez also led the La Habra offense.

Anaheim 28, Westminster 21: Jason Garrett threw three touchdown passes for the victorious Colonists (2-1).

Armando Torres had two touchdown receptions and Lloyd Nolasco had one.

Western 53, Banning 35: Running back/linebacker Malachi Alatorre scored three touchdowns and had 11 tackles for the Pioneers (2-2) in the victory over Banning of Wilmington.

Alatorre scored two rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown. He finished with 94 rushing yards. JJ Amezcua had 11 reception including three for touchdowns.

Jacob Taylor rushed for 72 yards and had nine tackles. Makai Hayes rushed for 51 yards, had six tackles and an interception.

El Dorado 42, Valencia 12: Jack Strobele and Grant Thomas had two interceptions each for the Golden Hawks (2-2) in the neighborhood rivalry game.

Xavier Cadena returned a punt for a touchdown for El Dorado.
