CELTIC are flying high in the Premiership and are looking to secure a second straight title under Brendan Rodgers.
And one of the forgotten stars of Ange Postecoglu’s back-to-back title winning teams is beginning to enjoy himself away from Parkhead.
Carl Starfelt was a big player for Celtic in their championship-winning 21/22 and 22/23 seasons.
The defender played 89 times in total for Celts, but left for Celta Vigo in La Liga during Brendan Rodgers‘ first transfer window back at Celtic Park.
The Swede fell out of favour in Spain towards the end of last season, so much so that he was linked with a shock return to Celtic in this summer‘s transfer window.
But he’s played all but one game in the Spanish top flight this term, and last night played a starring role as Celta came from two goals down to snatch a draw against runaway leaders Barcelona.
And Celta fans took to X, formerly Twitter, to laud the 29-year-old’s upturn in form.
One fan said: “There is an award in the NBA called ‘Most Improved Player.’
“If there were one [in La Liga], it would go to Carl Starfelt.
“He’s a sure thing, his confidence is sky-high, and he’s improved tremendously with the ball.
“With his form, we’ve had few better centre-backs.”
Starfelt won 100% of his duels as Celta frustrated Robert Lewandowksi and co. at the Estadio Abanca-Balaidos.
Another fan posted: “Starfelt’s game today is an absolute 10/10.
“The jump he made from good centre-back to elite centre-back from one day to the next is incredible.”
A third said: “Watch out for the level Starfelt is showing, today he has been SPECTACULAR again!”
