Two Alabama alumni were among the 22 NFL players fined by the league for actions during Week 1 games, with Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson tying for the largest fine of the week.
The NFL docked Tomlinson $22,511 for a hit on the quarterback in the Browns’ 33-17 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
On the play cited by the NFL for discipline, Tomlinson sacked quarterback Dak Prescott for a 7-yard loss on the game’s second snap and was not penalized on the field.
Tomlinson’s fine tied Indianapolis Colts linebacker Zaire Franklin for the largest fine for Week 1. Franklin was fined for unnecessary roughness in the Colts’ 29-27 loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday.
Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs also received a fine — $16,833 for unnecessary roughness. The former Crimson Tide defensive back and wide receiver was flagged on the field for his infraction.

The NFL announced the fines for Week 1 on Saturday.
The NFL uses a collectively bargained schedule of fines to determine the amount of monetary punishment.
