Before Cincinnati’s game against Kansas City on Sunday, Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt said he didn’t like the Chiefs and threw some shade toward their wide receiver Xavier Worthy, the fastest player in the history of the NFL Scouting Combine.
On Sunday, the former Park Crossing High School quarterback put his right hand where his mouth is.
On a deep throw on a second-and-13 snap from the Kansas City 38-yard line, Taylor-Britt made a one-handed catch on the run while covering Worthy down the left sideline for an interception of Chiefs quarterback Pat Mahomes. Taylor-Britt came down at Cincinnati 34 on the final play of the third quarter with the Bengals leading 22-17.
A second-round draft choice from Nebraska in 2022, Taylor-Britt got the fifth regular-season interception of his NFL career. He also has an interception in the playoffs.
After scoring two touchdowns in Kansas City’s season-opening game, Worthy had two receptions for 17 yards and a 5-yard rushing attempt.
But Kansas City won the game 26-25 on the field goal on the final snap.
In his final season at Park Crossing in Montgomery, Taylor-Britt passed for 1,466 yards and 16 touchdowns and ran for 1,030 yards and 14 touchdowns to earn All-State recognition as the Thunderbirds quarterback. He made the transition to defensive back at Nebraska.
