Former Auburn golfer rolls to PGA Tour victory

Patton Kizzire won a PGA Tour tournament on Sunday for the first time in more than six years, and the former Auburn golfer’s victory at the Procore Championship was different than his other two PGA Tour titles.

When Kizzire won the OHL Classic on Nov. 12, 2017, he posted a one-stroke victory over Ricky Fowler. When he won the Sony Open on Jan. 14, 2018, Kizzire beat James Hahn in a playoff.

But on Sunday on the North Course at Silverado Resort in Napa, California, Kizzire rolled home five shots clear of the field at 20-under 268. He closed the tournament with a final-round 2-under 70 after carding 66, 65 and 67 in the preceding three rounds.

Kizzire won the first-place money of $1.08 million. Entering the tournament, Kizzire had won $622,670 in 2024. In 18 tournaments, he had posted two top-10 finishes and missed the cut 10 times.

Kizzire played for three Alabama high schools – Tuscaloosa Academy, Central-Tuscaloosa and Northridge. He won two individual state championships – one in AISA and one in AHSAA.

At Auburn, Kizzire won the individual title at the 2007 SEC tournament.
