Game of the Week features nationally ranked Slippery Rock

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. (WKBN) – Slippery Rock topped Bloomsburg 27-7 in college football action on Saturday afternoon in the WKBN College Football Game of the Week.

With the win, Slippery Rock clinches a spot in the NCAA Division II playoffs. In addition, The Rock likely be hosting a first-round postseason contest on Saturday Nov. 23.

The Slippery Rock defense opened the scoring in the first quarter when Jacob Snow returned an interception 23 yards for a touchdown, giving The Rock a 7-0 lead.

Bloomsburg bounced back when KJ Riley connected with Owen Anderson on a 37-yard touchdown pass, tying the game at 7. Riley completed 9-21 passes for 143 yards and a touchdown.

The Rock took the lead for good when Mason Yohn hit a 25-yard field goal. He later added a 40-yard field goal in the third quarter.

Idris Lawrence found the endzone for SRU in the second quarter, and finished the day with 117 rushing yards in the win.

Brayden Long added 1-yard touchdown run later in the third quarter. Long also completed 17-23 passes for 141 yards on the day.

With the win, Slippery Rock ends the regular season with a record of 9-1. The Rock will learn its first round playoff opponent/schedule details on Sunday at 6 p.m. on the NCAA Division II Selection Show at NCAA.com.

Bloomsburg’s season comes to an end with a record of 6-5.
