Gege Akutami Admits Todo Will Never Like Their Choice in Women

Aoi Todo from Jujutsu Kaisen is an extremely strong character, who brings both thrills and amusement to the table. In moments of despair, Todo is the best companion one could ask for. However, for him to offer his entertaining and comforting companionship to anyone, he needs one important question to be answered: the person’s type in women. Interestingly, the creator of Todo, Gege Akutami, would fail to answer this question.

During an interview and discussion with Tite Kubo, Akutami shared their process of crafting characters. They also opened up about their preference, or lack thereof, in women and female characters, and their answer is bound to disappoint Todo.

The female characters in Jujutsu Kaisen are some of the best. They are not only strong but extremely reliable as well. In an interview, Tite Kubo and Gege Akutami discussed the female characters of JJK.

Akutami shared (via edomonogatari) that the female characters in their manga are not their preferred archetype. Furthermore, the creator seemed pretty oblivious to their own taste in women or female characters. There was an air of indifference and disinterest in the particular archetype.

Well, it’s not as if I prefer any archetypes in particular. If you were to ask me about my favorite female characters, I’d freeze up.

Akutami’s cluelessness and lack of opinion on the female characters is bound to irk Todo. The mangaka was also aware of this fact. When Akutami was asked about their potential answer to Todo’s ‘important’ question. They shared that they would just not answer the question which would anger Todo.

I wouldn’t. He’d probably beat me up.

Although it’s not very hard to crack the right answer, Akutami shouldn’t have any trouble coming up with it. After all, they have created the character and they know what would please Todo the most.

Seemingly, Akutami couldn’t care less about pleasing the character and a fate like Fushigoro awaits them, if they ever cross paths with Todo. Well, it seems like not everyone has the key to Todo’s heart like Itadori does.

Here’s how the Female Characters differ from the Male Characters in Jujutsu Kaisen

An intriguing point that was highlighted by Tite Kubo during the interview was the difference between the male and female characters in Jujutsu Kaisen.

While your male characters come in all types, I feel like your women largely fit the same mold.

There’s more variety to the male characters as compared to their female counterparts. From the carefree Gojo to the uptight and disciplined Nanami, there are numerous characters who fall under different archetypes.

The female characters in Jujutsu Kaisen are all tough and defy gender norms and stereotypes, with maybe Miwa as the only exception. The reason behind this difference between the characters was simply the inexperience of the creator.

They stated that they didn’t have enough experience drawing female characters, so they limited themselves by not creating overly feminine characters.

Irrespective of the reason, most female characters in Jujutsu Kaisen are extremely fun to follow. They have conviction and their own stories, unlike many other female anime characters. Their appeal lies in their determination and strength, and while that might not be enough for Akutami, fans seem to love it.
