In a recent development in the manga, Gege Akutami revealed that the, now strongest sorcerer, Yuta had thrown the final blow on Jujutsu Kaisen‘s secondary antagonist, Kenjaku. However, it has created a very controversial topic among the fans.
Looking a little deeper into the plot twist, there is a great possibility this event was actually a successful attempt to hide a terrible reality, that Yuta’s actual strength isn’t really that impressive. In fact, he has major weaknesses. But what exactly set off this uproar, and how does it question the existing belief in Yuta’s abilities?
Yuta Might Not Be As Strong As Fans Make Him Out To Be
Yuta’s fight against Kenjaku in Jujutsu Kaisen generated debate amongst the fans regarding his reputation as an extremely strong sorcerer, and whether his powers were overestimated. As one could see during the fight, things were a little more complex compared to how one would expect them to go.
Even after being considered one of the strongest sorcerers within Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuta needed Takaba and Todo’s help to defeat Kenjaku, which questioned his strength as an individual fighter.
Yuta having others to help him defeat Kenjaku simply underlines the fact that he has been hyped up a bit too much. If he really was strong, like the fans would like to believe, there wasn’t a need for him to take that fight with his allies’ interference. This necessity of taking support from others when he could not do the job himself shows some level of weakness in his singular capacity, and calls into question his place in the Jujutsu Kaisen hierarchy.
However, in an important fight like that, individual strength should not be a thing for the viewers to be concerned about.
Yuta’s Lack of Individual Strength to Fight Against Kenjaku Divided The Fandom Into Arguing
This argument has split the fandom into debating colonies, where many still argue about how Yuta had to take help in order to win against Kenjaku. Fans are clearly disappointed, and they think of Yuta’s failure to solo Kenjaku as something that reveals a lack of strength and tarnishes his reputation as a powerful sorcerer.
However, some others countered this statement, saying that it was perfectly strategic to ask for help during the most critical battle and, therefore, far from an act of weakness. They argued that in a life-and-death situation, while humankind’s survival is at stake, it is better to fight smarter, not harder. Using Takaba’s strength, which was effective against Kenjaku, Yuta made a tactical move toward victory.
Yuta fans are also claiming that it wasn’t about creating a power rankings list, but an objective to win the fight and save the world. Also, he had a much more important job to do later on, which was the fight against Sukuna.
This testifies that Yuta surely is smart and knows how and when to change course according to the situation, while this particular fight against Kenjaku does not represent his personal strength whatsoever.
