IT’S a massive Champions League night for Celtic as they welcome RB Leipzig to Parkhead.
And they have an old favourite cheering them on in his return to Glasgow.
Victor Wanyama spent two season at Celtic between 2011 and 2013, winning the Premiership title in both years and starring in the Hoops famous Champions League win over Barcelona.
And the Kenyan won over Celts’ support with his dominant midfield displays and amusing social media antics.
He spoke to Celtic TV before kick-off against Leipzig, smiling when asked whether he had fond memories of his time playing at Celtic Park.
He said: “Yeah sure, I remember everything!
“This is one of the best stadiums I have ever played in.
“It’s difficult to explain because once you step out there and you see the support, the fans, the feeling is you want to give everything.
“To players, it means a lot to see the fans out there giving their all and supporting their team, so it’s nice to see.”
And Celts fans clearly had similarly positive memories of the midfielder, taking to X, formerly Twitter, to praise the ace – and even ask for him to return!
One fan said: “Get stripped big man!!”
Another posted: “I miss you Big Vic.”
A third replied: “Midfield destroyer, the big man was the best out and out defensive midfielder I’ve ever seen play for Celtic.”
Another said: “Get him back in the team.”
And there were references to Wanyama’s famous tweet from 2012 which read: “I had spaghetti it was very nice I enjoyed it.”
A fan said: “Great to see big Victor back, I hope Celtic had spaghetti on the menu, it’s very nice and he enjoys it!”
