Greg McElroy on Jalen Milroe: ‘Probably the best he’s ever been by a mile’

Greg McElroy on Jalen Milroe: ‘Probably the best he’s ever been by a mile’

Jalen Milroe is playing on a different level than a year ago, according to SEC Network analyst Greg McElroy.

The former Alabama quarterback was nothing but complimentary of the Tide’s quarterback a day after Kalen DeBoer’s team defeated Georgia 41-34 in Tuscaloosa.

“Jalen Milroe, who was outrageously good, probably (played) the best he’s been by a mile,” McElroy, who played at Alabama from 2007-2010, said in a video posted on social media from his “Always College Football” podcast. “Running it. Throwing it. Athleticism, tight roping the sideline, being able to make guys miss and getting the ball out quickly. His anticipation, when throwing the football, is elevated so significantly.”

Milroe finished 27 of 33 for 374 yards and two touchdowns with an interception, while adding 16 rushes for 117 yards and two scores on the ground.

“It doesn’t really show on television,” McElroy explained. “But when you see it in an all-22 setting, if you see it and how quickly he’s throwing the football, there might be a guy along the offensive line that whiffs. It’s no problem because Jalen might be able to beat him with a throw.”

McElroy said Milroe has already stepped up his game from a year ago.

“His advancement from last year is on a completely different level,” he explained. “He’s playing phenomenal and was the reason they won the game last night.”
