CLEVELAND, Ohio (WKBN) – Cleveland Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase finished in third place in the American League Cy Young Award voting.
Detroit’s Tarik Skubal was the unanimous winner, receiving all 30 first-place votes, with Kansas City’s Seth Lugo finishing as the runner-up.
Skubal finished the 2024 campaign, posting a record of 18-4 with a 2.39 ERA. In 31 games, the left-hander pitched 192 innings, piling up 228 strikeouts.
Last week, Clase was unanimously voted as the recipient of the 2024 Mariano Rivera American League Reliever of the Year Award. It is the second straight year that he won that award.
Clase, who was named an All-Star for the third consecutive year, posted a 4-2 record with a 0.61 ERA with 47 saves. He piled up 66 strikeouts across 74 appearances this season.
