CLEVELAND, Ohio (WKBN) – Cleveland Guardians manager Stephen Vogt and closer Emmanuel Clase were named finalists for prestigious Major League Baseball postseason awards on Monday night.
The other two finalists for American League Manager of the Year are Detroit’s AJ Hinch and Kansas City’s Matt Quatraro.
In his first season as manager, Vogt led the Guardians to 92 wins and an appearance in the American League Championship series.
The American League Manager of the Year award winner will be announced on Tuesday Nov. 19.
Clase is a finalist for the American League Cy Young Award after posting a career-high 47 saves for Cleveland. He is the first relief pitcher to be named a finalist since 2008.
He led all major league relievers with a 0.61 ERA.
The other finalists for the American League Cy Young Award are Detroit’s Tarik Skubal and Kansas City’s Seth Lugo.
The AL Cy Young Award winner will be announced on Wednesday Nov. 20.
