Hank Brown on Auburn’s win, his performance: ‘It’s indescribable’

Hank Brown said he didn’t have the words for earning his first win as the Auburn starting quarterback after the Tigers defeated pesky New Mexico 45-19.

“Obviously, it indescribable,” the freshman quarterback told ESPN on the field after the game. “I don’t have the words for it. It was a great start. There are a lot of things we have to build on and work on. A lot of things we have to fix up for SEC play, but, honestly, God be all the glory.”

Brown finished 17-of-25 passing for 235 yards and threw four touchdowns to four difference receivers.

“Our theme this week was ‘soli Deo gloria,’” he explained. “It means God gets all the glory.

“Going into this game, it’s special because everything we have is a gift from God, so I just want to give him the glory.”

Auburn improves to 2-1 on the season, and Brown said his team showed confidence in his abilities all night.

“It felt great, knowing that my teammates and coaches are behind me,” he said. “It gave me confidence to go out there and show what I can do. Definitely felt great.”

While the quarterback position still appears to be up in the air, Brown was confident the Tigers will be contending as SEC play heats up.

“We’re planning to put up a bunch of points every game and to continue to do what we did tonight with, obviously, cleaning up the little things that we need to get right, but I’m super excited for SEC play and I think we’re going to dominate,” he said.
