As Helldivers 2 is gaining popularity again, a lot of new gamers have joined the Super Earth forces. Playing the game for the first time can get overwhelming, but the Helldivers 2 community is very welcoming and makes sure that everyone has a great time on the battlefield.
In case you’ve just started playing Helldivers 2 or plan on trying it out any time soon, you must know these 10 golden unsaid rules that all community members must follow. These rules were shared by a player who has spent most of their time fighting the Automatons. As a new player, make sure you follow these rules so you don’t get overwhelmed by higher difficulty levels.
10) Anti-Tank Weapons Are A Must During Automaton Missions In Helldivers 2
A well-experienced bot-diver on the r/Helldivers2 subreddit has claimed that Anti-Tank Strategems in Helldivers 2 are quite overpowered, so at least two out of four Helldivers in a squad should get Anti-Tank stratagems. During missions, particularly during Raise The Flag on a higher level, players will come across dropships carrying tanks or Factory Striders.
9) Players Must Understand The Importance Of Assisted Reload
Many players still don’t know that Helldivers 2 allows you to reload your squad member’s Stratagem. Recoilless Rifle and Autoncannon, for example, can be reloaded by a friend who has a backpack. Experienced players often drop only backpacks next to players with no backpacks, this basically means that your fellow Helldiver needs Assisted Reload.
8) Be Well-Prepared For Raise The Flag Missions
Raising the Super Earth flag on Automaton missions can get chaotic very quickly and in such scenarios, players must have a dedicated medic and resupply divers. Medic divers must use Medic armor and focus on giving a health boost to fellow Helldivers. Ressuply divers must call in resupply Stratagem at a proper location, not in the middle of the battlefield.
7) Place Strategems Sensibly
Using Stratagems without a proper strategy is pointless. For example, using two offensive Stratagems together in the same place will not do much. Instead, use an offensive Stratagem, like Rocket Sentry, with a defensive Stratagem, like MG Sentry in this case.
6) Use More Defensive Stratagems To Handle Hordes Of Small Enemies
During tough battles, it can be difficult to deal with hordes of small enemies but the best way to deal with them is to use green/defensive stratagems. Stratagems like HMG Emplacement are perfect for this, in fact, it is also highly effective against armored enemies.
5) Shield Generator Relay Isn’t As Effective As It Used To Be
Many Helldivers 2 players loved the Shield Generator Relay thanks to its amazing defensive capabilities, however, the Stratagem was nerfed by Arrowhead Game Studios and as a result, the Stratagem isn’t as effective as it used to be. Players need to be very careful while using this as it also goes down instantly when a Hellpod enters it.
4) The Anti-Tank Mines Can Be Useful On The Battlefield
The Anti-Tank Mines is probably one of the least used Stratagems in the game. Players need to start using this as it is quite strong against armored enemies, particularly tanks. They used to detonate when Helldivers stepped on them, making it an annoying Stratagem, however, that has been fixed now. Using these sensibly will definitely give some good results.
3) Use Offensive Stratagems Carefully To Avoid Team Killing
Almost everyone is aware of this rule but many still fail to follow it. Many players love to bring red/offensive Stratagems on Automaton missions but in most cases, they end up killing their teammates or friendly emplacements. If players want to use red Stratagems, they must use it to push back enemies.
2) Players With Different Loadouts Must Target Different Enemies
Players using Anti-Tank Stratagems should prioritize the enemies: Factory Strider, Tanks, and Hulks. Players using Automatons or HMG must target Rocket Devastors and Heavy Devastators. Also, keep in mind that sentries target bigger enemies first, so plan your attacks accordingly.
1) Anti-Tank Users Can Instantly Kill Factory Strider But There’s A Catch
In Automaton missions, Factory Strider is probably the most terrifying unit for many players. However, taking them down is very simple but it requires accuracy and an Anti-Tank loadout. An Anti-Tank user can instantly shoot down a dropship carrying a Factory Strider only before it decelerates. In case you missed that opportunity, make sure one of your squad members is carrying the Recoilless Rifle as it can take down Factory Striders easily.
