His series in October covered major new energy storage developments, including new pumped storage hydropower projects under way and others in the pipeline, as well as how they are being supported by government and how companies have involved Scottish communities.

A spokesperson for the BHA said: “The British Hydropower Association is the only association that solely represents the interests of the hydropower sector, and with the recent announcement of the cap and floor mechanism for pumped storage hydropower, interest in the technology is at an all-time high.
“As part of this uptick in interest, we are running our first ever ‘Journalist of the Year’ award that looks to recognise journalists that have made a significant contribution to communicating renewable energy news, articles, stories, highlighting the hydropower sector, net zero and energy security.”
The winner will be announced at the British Hydropower Annual Conference in Glasgow on November 27.
