Bloodborne‘s creator and global gaming icon, Hidetaka Miyazaki, might be a human being after all. His genius has shone through his works time and again as fans were treated to magnificent titles like Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, Sekiro: Shadow Die Twice, and Elden Ring.

However, in an interview, Miyazaki seemed abashed when talking about his past work, especially Bloodborne. When asked about the game and the possibility of a Bloodborne remake, he got as self-conscious as one can get when looking back on past errors.

However, he wasn’t averse to the idea of a remake as long as he was not involved with it.

Hidetaka Miyazaki Doesn’t Want To Look at His Old Works

When it comes to game creation, hindsight is 20/20 for Miyazaki.

In an interview with Game Informer in 2019, Hidetaka Miyazaki opened up about the possibility of working on remakes of his older works:

I don’t think the possibility is zero. But personally, it’s not something that I’d be interested in doing, personally. It’s like when you write – when you’re younger, you look back on it and you think “oh, goodness what was I thinking?” It’s not that I’m embarrassed, I just don’t like to look at my previous works.

However, some fans have been quite hopeful of late that they will see an Elden Ring VR rework, because of Miyazaki directing a horror VR game. But, the man himself doesn’t seem to be interested in the prospect of reworking one of his previous games.

Instead when asked whether he would be okay with another studio creating a remake of his titles, he had an affirmative answer:

You know, if it was a studio that really loved the original work and really put their heart and soul into realizing it again, then that’s something I would enjoy.

But it’s really complicated because I have these fond memories but thinking about the idea of a remaster gives me, kind of, butterflies in my stomach and makes me a little nervous, so it’s complicated.

Which Studio Would Snap up the Chance for a Bloodborne Remake?

While this does give some hope to fans for a possible future Bloodborne remake, most of them would be left disheartened by the knowledge that the master himself isn’t interested in the idea.

With Hidetaka Miyazaki and his team at FromSoftware hoping to move away from the Souls series, it remains to be seen whether any studio will be interested in creating a remake of Bloodborne, Demon’s Souls, or Dark Souls.

When Shadow of the Erdtree releases fans will be eager to see what is next in the illustrious career of Miyazaki, and his team at FromSoftware.

What do you think of Hidetaka Miyazaki being embarrassed by his old works? Do you think allowing another studio to take over a Bloodborne remake would be the right move? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
