The doctor is out — and everyone else at a southwest Alabama hospital — “until further notice.”
Thomasville Regional Medical Center in Clarke County announced Friday that it is suspending operations over staffing issues as it mulls its future.
“Due to staffing shortages, TRMC will suspend operations until further notice,” the hospital posted on its Facebook page. “All Community stakeholders will meet on Monday to assess the future of the hospital. Other local hospitals where patients can be seen are Grove Hill Memorial, J Paul Jones Hospital in Camden and Choctaw General in Butler.”
Thomasville Mayor Sheldon Allison Day, who posted the same message on his Facebook page, said while he will comment in greater detail on the hospital’s situation later, his “thoughts and prayers go out to the awesome staff at TRMC.
“They have been through more than anyone can imagine yet performed their jobs with great professionalism and character,” the mayor said. “None of the circumstances currently being faced by TRMC are a result of the performance of their duties.”
