A HUGE cannabis farm believed to be worth around £1.5 million has been uncovered by cops.
Officers swooped on the former Deja Vu nightclub on Queen Street in Peterhead on Tuesday as part of a major raid.
Cops executed the search warrant around midday where they discovered a large cannabis cultivation.
Two men have been arrested and charged in connection with drugs offences.
They have each been reported to the Procurator Fiscal and were due to appear at Peterhead Sheriff Court today.
Detective Inspector Rory Campbell said: “Drugs cause misery in our communities and we will use all resources at our disposal to disrupt the drugs trade in Scotland.
“Information provided by the public is vital in helping us continue to do this.
“This significant recovery underlines our commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country’s Serious Organised Crime Strategy.
“We would continue to urge anyone with information or concerns about drugs activity in their area to contact Police Scotland on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
Elsewhere, police recovered around £550,000 worth of Cannabis in Mid Calder.
Cops searched a property on Bishops Park on Tuesday following a tip.
Three men were arrested and charged in connection with drug offences.
The men, aged 21, 24 and 28, were due to appear at Livingston Sheriff Court on Wednesday, 18 September, 2024.
It brings the total haul seized by Police Scotland today to more than £2million.
We also told how SPFL star Jay Emmanuel-Thomas appeared in court accused of drug importation.
It comes after £600,000 worth of cannabis was found stashed in suitcases at a UK airport.
Emmanuel-Thomas, a 33-year-old striker who currently plays for Scottish Championship side Greenock Morton, was arrested by National Crime Agency (NCA) officers earlier this week.
